What are the new gear ratios? |
First is 3.00 and Second is 1.94; OEM is 3.36 and 2.05 respectively |

Are gears straight cut or helical cut? |
First gear is Straight cut; Second gear is Helical cut |

Will the synchros be redesigned? |
The OEM synchros are a quality design; Challenges with upshifts and downshifts result from the steep ratio change and the task the synchros undertake to mate the gears to the same speed; The new ratios in the upgrade kit will address this phenomenon by easing gear transition |

What is the input spline configuration? |
Input spline is OEM Renault; no custom clutch work is required |

Is the shaft diameter increased throughout? |
Yes; The shaft diameter is increased throughout including the fifth gear overhang |

Is the shaft one-piece or two-piece? |
The shaft is a one-piece component |

What material is used? |
High quality Flexor® steel alloy is used for the shaft and gears; Heat treated to a hard core strength |

What about machining and parts exchange? |
The kit is designed to be a direct fit with no machining of OEM components; no parts exchange is required either, making the upgrade reversible to OEM specifications |

What do the larger bearings provide? |
Essentially, more strength; One is always trying to improve the weakest link |

Is the upgrade available outside of the USA? |
Yes; The kit will be available worldwide |

What else will I need to install the kit? |
You will need a gearbox assembly kit which includes gaskets, seals, o-rings, roll pins etc. Contact Jeff at JAE Parts for the required bits. |

Who can perform the upgrade work? |
The purchaser can select the installer of their choice, however a knowledgeable Esprit mechanic is recommended. Contact Harry at Viking Motorsports (CA) or Ralph at RS Motorsports (NJ). |

Who is making the upgrade kit? |
The kit manufacturer is a premiere gearbox producer for IRL and NASCAR gearboxes; custom, high performance applications is their specialty |

What about the price? |
The upgrade kit is less expensive than the European options available today; Holloway Performance is confident the upgrade design and materials are of superior quality |

What gearboxes will this upgrade fit? |
The upgrade fits the UN1 gearbox used in the Lotus Esprit which utilized a 52mm outer diameter rear taper roller bearing, from 1990 to 2004. Please confirm before ordering. |
